Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
