Netflix Chooses Spot-On Actor for Bentham in One Piece Third Season

Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, even if the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until the third season, and a beloved, fan-favorite member has recently been selected.

The streaming service revealed this week that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bentham. Bon Clay has the ability to transform into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve made contact with with their main hand. Escola, who is identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will depict a version of that role re-envisioned as gender non-binary, rather than as a drag performer, in the live-action show, as in the initial comic and anime.

The new cast member joins several other new cast members who will portray the organization to reality, including head Mr. 0, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the cast as the monarch of the desert kingdom.

Although Bon Clay is a key figure of the group, the character won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. With the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this signals a significant shift in the placement of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate additional alterations to the story’s structure.

The actor’s combination of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a perfect fit for the role. In addition to their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and multiple awards for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the adaptability they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised characters.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece program is set to return for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
